Walking Around the World…Disney’s D-Street Store

Disney’s trendy D-Street store had its official opening here in Downtown Disney on April 16th, 2010. Located in the former Planet Hollywood on Location, this unique and novel store has been a hit with guests ever since. The store, like its sister store on the East Side Trend-D is on the cutting edge with novelties and one-of-a-kind items found nowhere else on property. Here you can find chic, offbeat fashionables, jewelry and artwork. They offer Tron-inspired merchandise. Some of the famous clothing labels found here are Harajuku Lovers, Bloc 28, Anime and Rock ‘N Rolla. You can find Jewelry Designer Tarina Tarantino’s offerings and the Vintage apparel line has artwork from all the Classic Disney Characters and Attractions.

FAVORITE VILLIAN, PEG-LEG-PETE

But the stores biggest claim to fame is it’s the headquarters for the newest collectable craze; Vinylmations. Disney Pin trading and collecting is a guest favorite for sharing the magic and taking it home, but the Vinylmations are in strong competition for first place. Vinylmations, if you are not in the loop are little Mickey figurines made of vinyl, but are decorated in hundreds of different designs and motifs. For the collector, one half of the store is devoted to these little guys. You can design your own figure at the big glass top table (Which is made up of 782 of the characters) or you can pick from different mouth and eye

decals to help you along. There are several style group sets of Vinylmations available…Urban, Park and even a Muppets series, with more on the way. And like pin trading, you can trade your Vinylmation with D-Street’s “Cast Member Vinylmation Trading” You can also purchase signed Vinylmations from the Disney Design Group Artists.

The store itself is like entering an art colony. There are pictures all over the walls, drawings of Goofy, Minnie,

THE STORE

Mickey and even Pete that look like they were drawn on a chalk board. The store also reminds you of a warehouse, with exposed brick in the plaster, iron shelves and display cases and wood is evident all around. If you look up around the perimeter of the ceiling, there are items galore on display. And the ceiling is painted a beautiful blue with clouds, some in the shape of Mickey Mouse. In addition to all the unique items found here, Men and boys have their choice for designer fashions, so it is a store for all guests. One of the outstanding items of interest is the huge 3 foot tall Mickey made up of three different colored Vinylmations…Red, White and Yellow for his shoes, body, shorts and Mask.  Another is the chandelier; it is made up of 49 nine-inch Mickey Vinylmations, very impressive.

So if you are into the new Vinylmations craze or just want a unique and different item not found anywhere else, this is the place to shop. I have included pics of the store so you can see just how unique and chic it is!
